Omar’s Dream Run 2014
Omar Hassan was a Matsumoto student and our very own superhero. Diagnosed with leukemia at the age of two, he fought bravely against the disease while always seeking to make things better for the people around him. When Omar was in fourth grade, he faced a bone marrow transplant and months of isolation afterward. He wanted to stay in touch with Matsumoto, so he attended school via videoconference. He participated in all of our academic activities while staying in contact with his friends. He even presented his science fair project via Skype. Omar lost his battle with leukemia on April 7, 2012, but his dream lives on. To honor his wish, we are organizing a 5K/10K run/walk to raise funds for other hospitalized children to stay connected electronically with their teachers and classmates. The event will be at Hellyer Park on Sunday, October 19, at 10:00 a.m. Please join us! To sign up, donate, or read more about Omar, please visit omarsdream.org. Register by September 19 to guarantee a T-shirt in your size.
